Spigariello Broccoli Seeds

This heirloom is one of the most prized vegetables in Italy. Rather than producing broccoli heads, this variety will produce an abundant amount of flat leaves that are cooked like spinach. Often lightly pan fried and tossed with olive oil, salt and lemon and served as a side dish. While similar to kale, the flavour is milder and more ‘broccoli’ tasting.

A cut-and-come-again vegetable, ‘Spigariello’ is generally classed as a cool season crop and will withstand light frosts. For extended plant growth and harvests, remove any flower stems that appear and harvest regularly.

Protect from territorial White Moth by using shade cloth, fake moths on sticks or wipe the small eggs off the underside of leaves every morning – this works like a charm.

Also known as Leaf Broccoli
