Extra Info

These ‘Clary Sage’ seeds are heirloom and open-pollinated and like all of our seeds, they are non-GMO and untreated (with no chemical treatments or dyes used).

For a little history on this wonderful herb, Clary sage originates from the Mediterranean region where it has been cultivated for thousands of years, with records of the herb being used in the 4th century BCE. Valued since ancient Greek and Roman times, this fragrant herb was considered highly prized for both its ornamental beauty and traditional uses.

During the Middle Ages, it became known as ‘clear eye’ for it’s medical properties to remove dust and debris from the eyes and in the 16th century, it was widely used in brewing as a replacement for hops. Today, it is loved by gardeners for its striking flower spikes, aromatic foliage and ability to attract bees and other beneficial pollinators to the garden.
